|
|
Maybe I'm just nog looking hard enough.. I want to make Gentoo skip the waiting time it takes for initializing DHCPCD.
So basicaly I want to background the process. It needs to do it's thing, but in the meanwhile the system should go on and boot.
I call it backgrounding, but I don't know if that's the correct term, hence, maybe I've been looking at the wrong places on the internet and the forum.
It should be simple right? Can anybody tell me?

Depending on the init system you have it might be linear and some other things may depend on dhcpcd being up and ready before they do their thing. If you're looking to streamline your boot process you can look into OpenNG. There is also an official migration guide. Be warned however that it's not deemed stable yet. |

Seems nice, I'll check into that OpenNG stuff when I'm done installing. Thnx man.
In the meantime, maybe somebody else knows a simple command-line based solution for this. _________________ Calling atheism a religion, is like calling bald a haircolour. |

Just install sys-apps/netplug. Gentoo will take care of the rest. _________________ Saving the world, one kilobyte at a time. |
