|
|
Hi,
I'm installing Gentoo on a computer that already has a /home partition. At what time during the install do I need to mount it? Or do I even need to mount it during the install?
Thanks!

You need to mount home at some point before creating any users corresponding to /home. At the latest, do it before chapter 11 in the handbook. The installation (if you do it by the book) doesn't access /home before that step. |

And before you mount something on /home, just check that the directory
you are mounting on is empty in case things haven't gone quite to plan.

It's a little too late for that, as I apparently added /home to /etc/fstab on accident without realizing it, and I currently have it mounted (and everything seems to be OK). But what do you mean by "things haven't quite gone to plan"? Why would there be files in /home on a clean install? |
