I've had this working before, but due to other problems, I've lost a lot of configuration ...
Anyway, I'm running KDE 4.0.5 and AmaroK 1.4.9.1 with a MS Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000. I'm trying to get the Play/Pause key (keycode 162) to work with AmaroK for its global play/pause action.
I've set up an .Xmodmap which seems to work (xev shows it). Then I went into AmaroK to set up its global shortcuts. I set up a secondary key for this, which seemed to take ok, as when AmaroK is in the foreground, pressing the key does, in fact, start/pause the audio. However, if AmaroK is not in the foreground (e.g., minimised to tray or visible but I'm typing in Firefox like right now), AmaroK ignores the key (or doesn't get told about the key). If I press the primary key (Win+C), that works fine at all times.
If I assign the same action's secondary key to something else, like XF86AudioMute, that works fine. For some reason, this one key doesn't want to go through. I even put this key on other global actions, and they work similarly well (i.e., not at all unless AmaroK is in the foreground). |
