Sort of weird but when i use a GL based screensaver and try to unlock the screen i dont get the unlock/password box though i can type in my password but it never clears the screen. I can go to a terminal using hotkeys and do killall -9 xscreensaver and my screen comes back. this only happens with GL based ones. The regular screensavers work fine. I have remerged ati-drivers, xscreensaver, and upgraded the the ~x86 xscreensaver to no avail. Any ideas? _________________ www.EternalFireProof.com

I had an issue where opengl screensavers were locking up my machine.
Upgrading to mesa-7.0.3 seems to have fixed my problem, might be worth a try for you. |

I've had this problem ever since I upgraded my ati-drivers to 8.501, as well. I just switched to a non-openGL xscreensaver for the time being. I also upgraded my kernel to gentoo-2.6.25-r7 because the ati-drivers weren't working with my older gentoo-2.6.23-r3. So I don't know if that could be part of the problem. I also recompiled xscreensaver.
I would also switch to the console and kill xscreensaver. But sometimes it would not return input to my keyboard and I could no longer type in X. _________________ -Josh |

Ok, I'll be a thread digger...
I'm having the same problem. The unlock display for xscreensaver doesn't display *only* when I have a glx saver running. The mouse cursor appears, and I can type the password in and it clears, but the display is missing. It's more of an annoyance than anything else, but it would be nice to see the unlock dialog
I have mesa 7.2, xscreensaver 5.05 and ati-drivers 8.522
**update
Ok I tried updating to xscreensaver 5.07 on a whim and no change. I was hoping it wasn't a GL issue, but looks like it.
