Is there any possible way to get the Gentoo Prefix on OS X (10.4.11) to compile the source for GNOME or KDE, and then use the native X11 available in OS X. I'd like to see this prefix idea overtake MacPorts, formerly DarwinPorts and Fink. I would be willing to take on this project if it has not been started yet. I just need some help getting my feet wet with the Developers and such. If this has already been started, please lead me to the right place. _________________ The Birth and Growth of Science is the Death and Atrophy of Art -- Unknown

You would probably have more luck talking to devs on irc on gentoo-alt if I am not mistaken.
It would be interesting if indeed we could use some of the native stuff. In the case of kde
the QT toolkit for OS X Aqua not the X11 version for example.
I am thinking of looking at what happens when I put QT in /etc/portage/package.provided
a bit later. |
