If I reemerge gentoo sources to the new version in portage. Do I have to redo make menuconfig and copy to /boot/ and all that? Or can I just upgrade and have it taken care of. |

new version = do it again
so you have to create a new kernel config, build it & install it.
you can copy your old .config in the kernel to setup only the new features of that brand kernel.
also "eselect kernel list" and be sure to point your /usr/src/linux to the new one |

Copy the old .config to the new directory and run That will let you only change the options that are new/changed. |

In fact, the make oldconfig is the best way to update a kernel, before at least, you don't have to reconfigure your kernel from A to Z. |
