|
|
Hi!
I'm configuring a little router-box with http-server and other stuff on it.
I used to have an older gentoo-release including Kernel 2.4.19something (I used the gentoo-Sources) and everything was working great, but I had to reinstall the system and I used the most recent release that I found...Gentoo 1.4rc4 I think, coming with Kernel 2.4.20-gentoo-r5.
Now I'm turning mad! I need netfilter and masquerading, but whenever I compile a kernel with that stuff turned on, I get a kernel panic at bootup:
Code: |

<0>Kernel panic: Attempted to kill init!

If I compile the exact same kernel without netfilter and masquerading, I have a wonderfully running system - except I of course don't have a firewall or NAT...suckx!
I tried to use my old .config from the 2.4.19 kernel, but it didn't work at all (I didn't really expect it, I was just a little hoping! ...
I'm generating .config-Files for a running and a not-running Kernel at the moment, so you guys can have a look at them later. But maybe some of you already have an idea what my problem could be...
thx in advance,

OK, **don't ask what I did**...I just know that I compiled a config that I was sure wouldn't work - and everything's great now!
Murphy's waving!
bye,

im having this same problem and i have tried recompiling about 3 times
with cleanly set configs each time. yow! this is getting frustrating
