Before I do something rash, I thought perhaps someone might have an idea as to whats going on.
I decided to configure Krfb yesterday on my kde-3.5.9 system for the first time, however as soon as I attempted to start the service I was greeted with a
"Unable to contact KDED" error.
Now as a result of this I've lost all auto-mount functionality with KDE (unable to mount usb stick etc).
Going into Control Center -> KDE Components -> Service Manager, all is all greyed out (all KDED services).
If I attempt to start kded via a kdeinit cmd, all I get is an endless loop of crash handlers forcing me to close out of X.
So wtf could have hosed kded or what-have-you by my simply trying to configure Krfb?
I have tried (successfully) re-emerging kdelibs (first), then all packages within kdebase-meta, kdenetwork-meta, and kdeutils-meta-3.5.9 ..still no joy.
I have reemerged dbus and hal as well as udev just on spec however automount was working fine prior to this event without anything touching these programs up to that point.
What am I missing here?
