I'm looking to set a VPN up at work and - after having unending trouble with the Windows PPTP system - have decided to try and use a Linux solution. Unfortunately, it's an area of networking I've never looked at very deeply at all, so I'm a little bewildered by it all.

What I'm trying to achieve - essentially, a remote "dial in" for people to use from home. I want them to be able to connect and be able to use all of (or as many as possible) of the network resources that they use when on the LAN itself. To be 100% honest, the descriptions of routing and bridged VPNs both sound like they could do this, but I wouldn't bet on being right in a million years.

Could anyone suggest a VPN system suitable for my needs? Many thanks in advance.

I'd use OpenVPN. It's far more secure than PPTP and lots easier to manage than something using IPSEC.
