iv just reinstalled and this obly happens on any user but root i think! when i log in and try to start a program it says starting for about a minute but then nothing appears! if i log in and out again the program loads in a few seconds!

it getting quite anoying having to log in and out and then in again! anyone got any ideas?

Which WM or DE are you using? Have you tried launching the program from the terminal?

You may also want to post your output of dmesg. Also check /var/log/messages to see if something is failing.
