|
|
I just emerged KDE4.1 through overlay. Most of it works fine. A few things:
1. Alt-F1 does not bring up the K menu, even though in plasma it's set to do so.
2. How do I edit the K menu? I emerged, for example, Kopete (3.5.9, since the KDE4 version failed to emerge) and it doesn't automatically show up in the K menu. That's fine, but I'm just wondering how to edit the menu in KDE4.
3. I emerged kscreensaver for KDE4.1 but screensavers do not show up in the screensaver section of the desktop settings.
Any advice would be appreciated. _________________ decibel Linux: https://decibellinux.org

1. No clue. I'd imagine this is simply a bug, since plasma is still an infant.
2. Do you have the kmenuedit package? I'm not sure if version 4.1 has been released yet, but I'd assume so. Try running kmenuedit from konsole.
3. This happened to me as well. I never solved it. |

1. No idea. It should work. A lot of the keyboard shortcuts (with respect to plasma and things redone in plasma) weren't done in time for the 4.1 feature freeze. Alt+F1 just barely made it. No idea why it doesn't work for you, but I feel your pain.
2. To the best of my knowledge, the only "editing" you can do to Kickoff without digging into the source code is assigning items which already exist to the "Favorites" tab. I could be wrong, there could be some .config or kickoffrc or some such thing, but I'm not aware of it.
3. I'm having the same problem. I'm pulling KDE4 from /trunk and doing it up all cmake-style by hand. I keep getting messages about how xscreensaver is not installed on the system. I've installed everything relevant to xscreensaver on here, from arch, ~arch, and, if applicable, the x11 overlay. No dice. There's one other missing "dependency" issue I ran into as well, but I don't remember what it is off the top of my head.
Anyway, with the overlay, does that pull from /trunk or /branch ? If it's from /branch, I would assume that issues one and three will be resolved shortly, just keep synching it and re-emerging every couple days. If you're pulling from /trunk, well, who knows when it'll be fixed. Right now it's being bombarded with things that didn't make the feature freeze and I'm guessing some things don't play nicely with others. _________________ Tower: AthlonXP 2800+, Via V82* board, GeForce 6200, openSUSE 11.0

Er, right-click the menu and press Menu Editor?
Works here. |

3. kscreensaver doesn't actually include any screensavers, those are in the ebuild kdeartwork-kscreensaver |
