At one point, my X server crashed hard... caused by my SIXAXIS being configured weirdly.

It came back (the second time, actually), and I'm missing several icons.

The most obvious ones missing: KOrganizer Reminder Daemon's systray, all of the emoticons in the "default" set for kopete, the icons for yahoo, jabber and msn (but not ICQ or AIM), a few more in AIM.

I thought maybe my icon set had been corrupted - switched to a few different sets, all missing.

What could have caused this, and how do I make it stop looking like a smile missing some teeth? (good analogy, eh?)

Same here, but there was no crash involved. I think it was something in my
Code:
emerge -uDN world
today.

yeah... actually searching bgo might help me :P

Because I like experimentation (read: pain), I'm going with the last comment - dropping to 1.2.29.

thanks for the catch

I can provide independent verification that masking libpng-1.3.0 fixes the issue on both my 64 bit system, and both 32 bit systems. I am so happy I found this! I was about to embark on a full world reemerge to try to fix KDE.

Thanks for that!

Blessed be!
Pappy
