There is nothing more to add to the topic unless the people in question wish to say something.

Please don't add further speculation to this thread.

Can I just add on more speculation? ... Thank you for the permission, kind sir.

Was there an incident like "KDE team likes paludis" versus "person X who loves spaghetti monster portage"? And person X threatened to pull loads of hardware if this paludis BS continues so KDE team (some of them) had to take a hike?
/ - speculation ends - /

BTW, Jorge Manuel Vicetto (jmbsvicetto) you are the man! Thank you for all the hard work with KDE4! :)

All hail jmbsvicetto!

Stop the speculation, as NeddySeagoon has requested. Locked

Really? Then the list here
http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/desktop/kde/
isn't up-to-date?

Gentoo's disjointed web 'infrastructure' is regularly outdated.

++

I don't care what that page says, there are only 2 developers actually working on this.

They sacked the kde lead developer just before 4.1 was released, and some others left in protest. There are only two members in the KDE herd now, so it's taking them a while to sort everything out. Kind of embarrasing really (for the Gentoo project as a whole, not the current developers). There's a long thread about it in Gentoo Chat

The ebuilds that developer wouldn't of been any use for getting kde4.1 into the tree any faster. HE insisted on making them Paludis-ONLY!

The ebuilds for kde4.1.x exist in the kdesvn overlay and are being actively worked on (esp byjmbsvicetto). WHAT is holding their release into the tree is EAPI-2 acceptance and that is being dragged out by portage dev's and council

So is that why he was sacked? The retirement bug is restricted.

tabanus, we have already had enough speculation on the topic. Naib is not likely to know more about that bug than yourself.

Split from the 4.1.1 thread and moved here for good measure.
