I am trying to configure virtualbox-bin for XP as a guest. Gentoo is the host.

1. I haven't installed the xp yet, used only image and selected it there. Someone tried the option of iso or should I give it cdrom option?
2.
Code:
 Failed to start virtual machine xp
Unknown error creating VM (VERR_HOSTIF_INIT_FAILED).
VBox status code: -3100 (VERR_HOSTIF_INIT_FAILED).

Result Code:
0x80004005
Component:
Console
Interface:
IConsole {1dea5c4b-0753-4193-b909-22330f64ec45}

I have selected host interface in networking and NAT. Why do I get this error? The interface is selected eth0

3. Can't launch virtualbox with simple user. I appear in vboxusers group.

4. What should be the base memory size? Now it's on 192mb. I have 1gb ram.

I solved the issue of (VERR_HOSTIF_INIT_FAILED). The problems that remain to be solved are permission denied for simple user and how to release the mouse from the virtual machine to the guest.

Please post the command you're trying to run, and the permissions error you're getting when you run it.

To release the mouse, it's usually the right Ctrl key (but it's user configurable).
