|
|
I noticed today that I'm getting two weird error messages at boot time that I can't explain:
Code: |
[*] Setting user font.... [ok]
Cannot open file default8x16
[*] Loading key mappings...
Cannot open file windowkeys
Error loading key mappings [!!]
|
Looking through my /usr/share/* tree, the usual set of keymaps and consolefonts are there. My /etc/rc.conf seems okay. I don't understand why I'm gettting these errors. _________________ I'm only hanging out in OTW until I get rid of this stupid l33t ranking.....Crap. That didn't work. |

Yes, I got that error too since I installed 2.6.0-test2...
Code: | bash-2.05b# /etc/init.d/keymaps start
* Loading key mappings...
cannot open file de-latin1
* Error loading key mappings [ !! ]
|
I've got american-style keyboard at the normal consoles, xterm behaves as usual... |

I also noticed this error since installing 2.6.0-test2.
I managed to solve my own problem:
Looking at /etc/init.d/keymaps and /etc/init.d/consolefont, you can see that these scripts call the programs /usr/bin/loadkeys and /usr/bin/setfont. Looking at the man pages for these programs, it appears that these programs expect to find data in
Code: | /usr/usr/share/keymaps
/usr/usr/share/consolefonts
/usr/usr/share/unimaps
/usr/usr/share/consoletrans |
In my /usr directory, this is all in
Code: | /usr/share/keymaps
/usr/share/consolefonts
/usr/share/unimaps
/usr/share/consoletrans |
So I created a bunch of symlinks from /usr/share to /usr/usr/share, and the error messages went away. _________________ I'm only hanging out in OTW until I get rid of this stupid l33t ranking.....Crap. That didn't work. |

Sounds like a bug. Maybe the ebuild doesn't set the right prefix? |
