!!!
!!! parallel-fetching requires the distlocks feature enabled
!!! you have it disabled, thus parallel-fetching is being disabled
!!!

Those are the two errors that I get from bootstrap.sh. If anyone can help, I would be appreciative. If you need more information, please ask and I will get back to you asap.

Stage1 installation? I'm not sure if it's maintained anymore. It could be that your portage version is too new for that.

distlocks is a default portage feature. You have einfo and eerror, so you should also have ewarn.

The only difference is instead of 3 steps in Stage1 - bootstrap.sh, emerge -e system, emerge -e world, There is 1 step in Stage3 - emerge -e world && emerge -e world. But they produce the exact same result in the end.

Did you symlink /etc/make.profile before starting bootstrap?

I tried one over the weekend. I used a funtoo stage1 tilde version, and matched up the portage snapshot - as is described on the funtoo blog page. There was nothing to change in the script.

Right after chrooting and setting the hostname I ran bootstrap.sh. There were 10 builds that all went fine. So it does work. Try it again. The worst that can happen is you learn stuff. :)
