Hi guys

I just bought a fancy new widescreen TFT (it was cheap and I can't resist a bargain... ).

Anyway, my current setup has two monitors, one tft (the primary) and one crt (the secondary). I am intending to make my new TFT the primary monitor and the old TFT will become the secondary. I have an NVIDIA 8600GT and am using whatever the latest version of the nvidia drivers in portage is.

My first question is---what is the easiest way to get my new monitor working with my existing setup? Is there any trivial way to do what I want to do?

My second question is this---both of my existing monitors use the same resolution (1280x1024). In the new setup one of them will be 1680x1050 and one at 1280x1024. Gnome seems to just treat my two existing monitors like one screen---is it going to go dislike the new setup?

Sam

It depends. Surely it will require some adjustment on your xorg.conf. It's shouldn't be anything traumatic though.

That entirely depends on gnome. I don't really use it, so I can't help you in that. Some window managers have a better support for xinerama (or twinview, it's the same) than others.
