Auth code disappear when backup

I install statistics software for linux and authorized it with auth code.
After that I back entire system up by tar.gz or partimage.
I always back up my system by tar.
But, when the system is restored from backup file - tar.gz or partimage backu all, the authorization code of statistics software does not appear.
So I have to re input auth code.
But, the program installed window xp or vista, this problem does not happen.
My linux uses ext3 filesystem.
Give me some hint.
