I did, it's nice and lightweight. Looks great, and with openbox as WM it uses obconf for configuration. I tried it with FVWM as WM too - that's alright, but I am an FVWM purist.

LXDE is user friendly, but there is no background switcher like the big DEs. :D

I agree its fast but why E17 still feel faster? or maybe because GTK is slow? or maybe I need to get the live ebuild instead of gentoo-taiwan ebuild?.

There are ways to address that.

My FVWM has a autogenerating Desktop Wallpaper menu with Thumbnails in configurable size (200 pixels wide in my config) that is just a bit laggy when indexing new Wallpapers for the first time. In Conjunction with a directory structure much more convenient than the Background switchers of the DEs if you ask me.

And I still miss the live screenshots of iconized windows on anything but FVWM. So if you have multiple windows of one application iconized you can see at first glance what is the right one.

FVWM is a PITA to configure, but you can do real magic with it.

PCmanFM, which is LXDEs default filemanager, can set wallpaper, and does icons on the desktop as well.
