i2c_core nvidia module help

Hello guys, recently, after an emerge --emptytree -uDN world, startx no longer works. Whenever i look at the errors, the nvidia module is having problems loading because i2c_core module is having problems loading. How would i fix this? I can't emerge i2c b/c on an amd64 system its masked with -amd64. Help please? I've tried everything already and im losing hope...

the package "i2c" should not be required, do you have CONFIG_I2C enabled in the kernel ?
