mozilla font and language support

Hello,
I installed mozilla 1.4 and I want to browse Chinese webpage. But it can not display Chinese
characters properly although I choose the proper encoding.
Previously I use slackware-8.0 and mozilla 1.3. They just work well.
Any suggestions?

I had the same problem with cyrillic fonts. Probably the source of the problem is the same ( https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=24761 ). The solution is to emerge fontconfig. Check this thread for more details: https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=69628
