hey geeks,
i installed gentoo 4 times. and i've got tvtime working every time without any problem. but last saturday, my harddrives thinks it's time for a headcrash. so i lost my xf86config. ok, i installed gentoo again and after that tvtime. but tvtime won't start. to test my tvcard i just emerged xawtv. xawtv works fine. i made a xawtv -hwscan:
Code: | This is xawtv-3.88, running on Linux/i686 (2.4.20-ck6)
looking for available devices
port 53-53 [ -xvport 53 ]
type : Xvideo, video overlay
name : video4linux
/dev/v4l/video0: OK [ -device /dev/v4l/video0 ]
type : v4l
name : BT878(Hauppauge (bt878))
flags: overlay capture tuner |
and this is the XF86config module section:
Code: | Section "Module"
Load "extmod"
Load "dri"
Load "dbe"
Load "v4l"
Load "record"
Load "xtrap"
# Load "glx"
Load "speedo"
Load "xft"
Load "type1"
Load "freetype"
EndSection |
installing the nvidia-kernel module, tvtime works fine. but after 2 minutes, the computer freezes. it's reproduceable.
last but not least, the tvtime error message:
Code: | #xvoutput: No XVIDEO port found which supports YUY2 images. |
if everybody has any suggestions that helps me to fork tvtime working, i'll be happy.
thnx anyway
marc
ps: sorry, but you can compare my english with my success of installing tvtime _________________ debian: stable but lame! suse: unstable and lame! gentoo: stable and only 4 geeks!

hey,
buggy things are going on. i made an emerge sync and then i've updated my system. emerge wants to update the current nvidia-kernel from 4463 to 4496. i thought: ok, let's test it! and i'm happy. it works fine. no freezes, no crashes. now i come to a decision: next graphix card will be nvidia
i hope this will help someone else.
now i can go to bed
bye marc _________________ debian: stable but lame! suse: unstable and lame! gentoo: stable and only 4 geeks!
