Hi all.
I need to access to a CompactFlash card connected to a VIA VT6421A controller.
While booting Gentoo 2008.0 install cd (to be honest I'm booting it from an USB pendrive) It hangs on the line "scanning sata_via..."
sata_via is the correct driver for this controller; connecting nothing to the controller or a PATA harddisk everything works right (and the harddisk is accessible).
The CF card is fully accessible under WindowsXP on the same machine.
Somebody could give me suggestions?
thanks. |

I found a detail that could help.
I realized that using a 32MB CompactFlash (and not a 4GB CF as I used till now) the Gentoo 2008.0 installation cd IS able to see and access the CF, but Ubuntu 8.04 IS NOT. Both runs kernel 2.6.24.
What can I do to find the differences between Gentoo installation cd and Ubuntu? I mean the differences that could have something to do with this problem. |
