I'm trying to get the Nvidia drivers working(black screen).
1. How do I copy and paste text from a log file? So I can post any needed errors or warnings.
2. Which log file for X do I want? I've got what appears to be four pertinent files, XFree86.0.log, XFree86.0.log.old, XFree86.8.log and XFree86.8.log.old . |

Well first thing is first, do an 'lsmod' first to make sure your nvidia driver is loaded. Then the next thing I'd do is post your XF86Config file. To copy and paste, I'd use gedit to open the file and do it from there (kedit if you use KDE). Can you get X working at all try switching the driver in your XF86Config to 'nv' instead of 'nvidia' until someone can figure out what's wrong with your setup.

XFree86.0.log is the newest log, however they are all valid logs, just from different ages. You can use the mouse to copy and paste. Highlight the region you want to copy, and then middle click where you want to paste. |

If you are on the console, you may want gpm to select with the mouse. |
