Hello all. I am experiencing a problem where the window manager will vanish. Basically, I loose the top bar of all active windows. (Where you have the close, maximinise, minimize buttons)

Tech info

Video card: Nvidia gforce 8500 PCI-E
KDE 3.5
AMD 64 3700+

If I launch compiz and emerald again using the code below, it comes back to normal, but trying to fix it so it no longer crashes. Not sure where to start however. Help would be appreciated.

Code:

compiz --replace ccp --loose-binding
emerald --replace

Note that I have to do both, or it will not fix it. The order I do it in does not appear to mather.
Tried to find logs to see what is going on, but nothing in /var/log or that I could find in my home. I am probably not looking in the right place.

Bump?

If I could at least find the log, would help. Wasn't able to find anything.

It's been a long time since I messed with compiz, since I'm on 4.1 right now, and it might be to obvious, but did you take a look at ....
Code:
less /var/log/Xorg.0.log

Yes, I looked at X's log. Nothing shows up in there. X itself is fine, but compiz will just die. If I re-launch it (as shows in my first post) it works again.

What sucks is this is pretty random. It won't happen for days, then it crashes 4 times in 15 minutes.

Did you enable the compiz crash-logging facility? It is in ccsm.
Though compiz crash dumps don't give much info as far as my box is concerned...
