I've got fusesmb-0.8.7 on amd64. I'm generelly very happy with it, but recently I noticed that it doesn't support names with ":". For example "CSI: LV" is shown as "CV7NF1~C". When I tried to rename a dir through fusesmb to a name that contains the character in question it was stored as such a weird name. Both systems are Gentoo with utf8 support.
Anyone had the same problem? |

that is pretty odd. Well, windows and its filesystems do not allow a colon in file names (it, and a bunch of other characters that we can use in unix, are reserved characters), and samba is an implementation of a windows protocol, so perhaps samba as a protocol also does not allow colons? That's my best guess. _________________ “Isn’t it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too?”
