I just emerge realone and was told that the plugin was not installed because it was defunct. What does this mean? Am I not able to have a realplayer plugin for my browser (I use galeon).
Does anyone know how to get the plugin working - assuming it's possible? _________________ Old School is the way forward! |

If realplayer was compiled with GCC 2.95 it is possibly that it wont work...
You might want to try mplayerplug-in |

realplayer was compiled with gcc 3.2.3 so it should work. I guess I could try mplayer - although I liked the idea of running realplayer on my system... _________________ Old School is the way forward! |

realplayer was indeed compiled, but not on your system.
If you look at the ebuild you'll see that it's merely grabbing a binary file off the server and installing it Code: | INSTALL_BINARY="r1p1_linux22_libc6_i386_a1.bin" |
I don't have any experience using the realplayer plugin, but I do know that realplayer is not compiled locally, that would require the source to be distributed.
Hopefully something will come of the helix-client in the future:
