I have a gentoo box up acting as a DHCP/DNS/NAT server and I would like to monitor the network activity that is passing through the box. What is the best way to do this?

Monitor? You mean something different than tcpdump or wireshark?

Hmm... or is it like monitor the ammount of traffic over time?
