Hello
Sorry, my english is not very good
I have just installed a gentoo 2008 on my new Thinkpap W500 and y can use the netword adapter (ethernet and wifi)
The chipset is a Intel ICH9
I have try with e1000 and e1000e driver but the card is not detected.
The wireless card is not detected too
PC INFO @ Levono Thinkpad W500
have anyone a solution ? (kernel patch for ich9 chipset or a howto)

ICH9 has nothing to do with the net controller. In order to be sure you are using the right drivers, paste the results of lspci -n to this site. That will give you the correct drivers for all devices. Install those drivers, and retry.

i dont' have experience about ich9
but i tried once on another ibm desktop machine which has e1000 (new) thing on board
what i did was to install BOTH e1000 + e1000e drivers from sourceforge
i could not get the NIC work without installing both things...... _________________ hackers - make sth real
academics - read sth said to be real |
