|
PPC G4 (733 MHz CPU, 1.5 gig RAM, lots and lots of disk, ATI Radeon QW video card, 2.6.24-r3 gentoo-sources kernel, that's the latest that isn't masked for ppc, running KDE 3.5.9, KDM...)
has worked fine for about 18 months...now no video again, since upgrade of about, oh, 6-8 weeks again.
lots of questions...how to configure X...xac or one of the several other utilities...? none worked quite right in the past, I always had to change "UseFBDev" to "true" in the past, though that alone doesn't help now (obviously.)
not real clear on .xinitrc vs. rc.conf and so forth, etc. Or is that where the problem lies? Again, it worked fine till 6-8 weeks ago, when I guess there was a xorg server update?
thoughts?
thanks!
testing with X -config fails, as expected... |

does it tell you why?
have you tried as root: Code: | cd ; Xorg -configure; Xorg -config ./xorg.conf.new |
