I get an ESR value when i boot my gentoo installation and recieve a hardware locking ESR message from the kernel. I google the message and came up with the answer that the SMP support was the problem. So i disabled it naturally and now the kernel won't compile. Any suggestions.? |

do a search for "make mrproper" first thou, as you lose your config options for your kernel if you dont back them up first |

Well, it's just a section within the kernel make, you go into that /usr/src/linux directory and type it in (make mrproper). _________________ Athlon XP 2000+ Palomino @ 1.667ghz

Ok, i have done that to no advail. Do I need to leave SMP enabled for this to work, as i have it still turned off and the kernel is not compiling. I looked up somewhere that the 18-21 series have had an APIC problem as i believe is mine does anyone know this for certain? I also tried to use the ac-sources they compiled but i left SMP on will try with out it to see if that works as i read that it sometimes can help instead of the gentoo sources? any suggestions are welcome |
