|
|
Hi,
I've installed 2008.0 from the liveCD on a toshiba satellite 5100,
but when I rebbot I have some issues....
the fonts are all corrupted (you barely understand the "ok" messages)
until the latest step when suddenly all becomes clear and perfect.
Also I noticed that using the liveCD I see the small "tux" in the top left
corner, while I don't see it after install....
the small tux should be related to the fb right?
is the problem with fonts related to kernel compilation?
any suggestion to get a kernel similar to the one on the liveCD ?
I'm asking this because I can;t even see the dual boot selection (win/linux)
on the screen and I have to go "blind" (btw, both are working fine).
Thanks in advance |

boot from the livecd, mount up, chroot and re-emerge grub please? or instead of re-emerging, you might want to comment out any splashimage lines in grub.conf.

yeah, I'm missing the splash image for some reasons...
commenting the grub line made the trick.
so ... just as a silly question,
what should I look into to have the small "tux" on the top left corner?
I'm looking to frame buffer or similar ...
I'm I right?
thanks |

You need to have both a framebuffer enabled and the bootlogo enabled in your kernel configuration in order to get the "small tux". |
