Ok, the problem here is when I'm trying to browse to an mounted directory(smb share) in any program(Firefox-local file open, Audacious were the two I tested) it is very slow to list the contents(locks up the program for a good 30seconds or longer). However, if I use thunar or a terminal to browse said directories they show up instantly. I've looked for about 2 hours on these forums and through google and can't seem to find a solution, most of the problems that people were having were slow file transfers, which isn't the case here - I can xfer at full speed no matter which connection type I use(wired or wireless). Let me know if you need anything from me. |

30 seconds is suspiciously near some address lookup timeouts; is the delay
the same even on repeated directory listings?
Anyway, I'd start by checking the address lookup sequence.
Good luck - Will |

It's the same every time, but it doesn't make sense that I can browse any folder in thunar or another file manager and they show instantly, I have the the server that I'm mounting the shares from in the host file as well. I'll do some more poking around |

Well, after going nuts editing the all of the related host/network files, I started getting some smb errors in dmesg. Looked them up and had a variety of options. One of which was to switch to CIFS. I did that, and problem is now solved! |
