Just upgraded to KDE4 from the Portage tree.

KNetworkmanager no longer works.

I can start it manually, and from the systray icon I can see all available networks, but it won't connect to any of them - including my own.

It was working under KDE3.5. What should I do?

Interestingly enough, when I remove /etc/init.d/net.eth0 (which is just a symlink to net.lo anyway), my latop automatically connects to my wireless network. I'm assuming it's connecting to the nearest unsecured.

I can still use ifconfig and iwconfig to get it up, scan, etc., but this is my girlfriend's laptop, and although she's not afraid of IT, I'd rather have KNetworkmanager working to make it easier.

Turns out NetworkManager/KNetworkManager is fine. OpenRC was part of my last world update, and /etc/rc.conf needs to have

Code:

rc_plug_services="!net.eth* !net.wlan*"

for NetworkManager to work properly with the systray icon.

So all's well. :D
