Xmodmap only loads properly for me when I run it at start thru the sessions configuration. if i use ~/.Xmodmap the media keys (keycode 144 = XF86AudioPrev for example) don't generate the correct keypress, and in xev return a couple of line of 0's similar to a mouse click.
I have no keyboard setup in xorg.conf (using autodetect) and the gnome keyboard setting is set to 105-key keyboard. (otherwise the media keys seem to do their own thing... hence using xmodmap)
I'm happy to load xmodmap as part of my session, but ideally would rather load it globally, or at the least thru the proper config files (/etc/X11/Xmodmap seems to do nothing, as does /etc/X11/xinit/Xmodmap) |
