Anyone knows some good howto/basic tutorial for installation over LAN (not any distro specific, just in general, possible options -like NFS,PXE etc)
Pardon if posting under wrong subforum, the question is not specific to Gentoo (at least not only to Gentoo).
Thanks in advance.

There is nothing special about installing over a LAN. You netboot a Linux system, typically through PXE. It is common for PXE boots of Linux to mount root over NFS so that they can have access to a full set of Linux tools, rather than being confined to what was packed into the initrd or available on the hard disk of the netbooted machine. Once booted, you can behave much like you would if you booted from a LiveCD. Partition the hard disk, lay down files that you want, and so forth. |
