Hello,
when the new Bluez-{utils,libs} will be available in portage (or is it available by some overlay)?
I know that >=Bluez-3, is still unstable, but I wish to install current bluetooth software.
On official bluez site the bluez-4 tree has been available since beginning of August 2008 and the -3 tree hasn't been supported since then.
Greet, Hadogenes

It may take a while yet. Kde-4, among other packages, hasn't been ported to the version 4 api. Having people upgrade and then lose all access to their devices often upsets them. _________________ My emerge --info
Have you run revdep-rebuild lately? It's in gentoolkit and it's worth a shot if things don't work well.

Yes thats true, but nobody force them to upgrade this software.
But I had a hope that the new bluez may be in some overlay. |

If you search a bit with google, you'll find the overlay you can add that has the bluez-4 ebuilds. _________________ My emerge --info

You can also follow the bug #236357. One problem is that bluez-{libs,utils} are combined. The following packages have the dependency hardcoded in their ebuilds:
app-mobilephone/sobexsrv
app-pda/multisync
gnome-extra/gnome-vfs-obexftp
media-sound/pulseaudio
net-wireless/bluez-gnome
net-wireless/kdebluetooth
net-wireless/libbtctl
Other bluetooth enabled packages use only the build flags at compiletime... Not sure that's the right way, but thats another story
I'll upload some new ebuilds for the community to test
Please note that you need to edit the listed ebuilds manually. You can make an overlay for yourself if you wish or edit the ebuild right in the portage tree which will be overwritten on the next update. _________________ Greetings / Met vriendelijke groet,
