Hello,

I'm new to this thematic, so I have a few questions.

I want to install gentoo on an old laptop to run it as a server.
This server should provide mountable disk-space to the network,
it should share my usb-printer and it should fetch mail from several
email-accounts and provide an easy to use interface to read the mail.
(I would like to have a webinterface to read and send email, and the
possibility to view the mails with a graphical email-client)

What application is the best choice for each task?

This is for home-use only.

Thank you in advance,
Andreas

NFS for unix boxes, samba for windows (NFS is also available to windows, but it's buggier)

dovecot for IMAP, one of the pop3d's for pop3, sendmail for smtp, and to bond everything else together.

don't know about webmail, tbh.
