I am currently installing gentoo on a beefy new server I've just obtained - it's a SuperMicro job with dual Pentium Xeon 2GHz chips. Does anyone have any tips for optimizing compilation etc for such processors? Is SMP fairly straigh forward to enable?
I've just finished emerging the system (only took 2 hours!) and am downloading the gs-sources kernel.
Any help is much appreciated. |

I wouldn't use GS-Sources on a Produktion system, stick to the vanilla ones. Most things in GS-Sources aren't needed at all for Server use (preemtive usw.) |
