Problems with keyboard repeat delay & speed (Gnome-curre

Using Gnome-current from breakmygentoo I'm unable to chenge the keyboard repeat delay & speed. It's always reset to the lower values, and each key pulsation produces two chars in spite of one.
Anybody has the same problem?
Is there any workarround? Some entry on the gconf editor that can be changed manually?
