Hi im just out in a bar on my laptop.
I can for some reason emerge packages and get on amsn but its not letting use a web browser.
I dont understand any idea what the problem could be.

Any ideas

gentoo_newguy,

The bar ir their ISP may expect you to set up your browser to use a web proxy, in which case normal port 80 won't work.
You will need the host name and port number for the proxy, which you enter in your browser set up.

Hey man cheers for always replying.
Everyone else is on the net just fine.
I dont think its a proxy problem but i will give it ago.
But the router is giving everyone else fine access there all on win boxs though.

Heh - Windows can autodiscover proxies. I don't know how to do that in Linux

Thats no problem mate .
Im positive though that its not proxied i have just asked.
Maybe its connected with the wrong type of encryption as i just set it up the same as i did at home but just changed the ssid and psk ?
Could that be possible that its letting me connect for some odd reason but not giving me full rights ??

Does anyone no if linux is able to autodetect proxies ???
I dont no what the wifi problem i was having earlier was but i was connected to tmsn but it would not let me use a web browser.

Is there some sort of application for auto detcting proxies

Normally a dhcp client can handle this

on Win youd push out a proxy autoconfig file (.pac). Not sure if this is how it'd work on linux - presumably this depends upon the dhcp server

Well i seem to be having problems on a network.
I can connect to the netork it lets me on amsn .
But icant seem to browse te net but i im sure its not proxied.
I dont understand why
