I've run emerge --sync and it all went like it should, but for some reason I'm still not able to emerge the newest ebuilds available. I'm using gentoo-sources for example, whenever I try to emerge gentoo-sources it goes for the 2.6.25 version, and in the portage folder 2.6.27-r1 is available. What am I not doing, or doing correctly?

Those later ones are flagged ~x86 - see the website for information about masked packages.

According to this:

http://packages.gentoo.org/package/sys-kernel/gentoo-sources

2.6.27-r1 is still marked unstable.

You should have a read about masked packages, and take a look at the Gentoo handbook here:

Shouldn't I be able to at least see those packages though? The only one showing up is that old 2.6.25-r4 version.

edit:

nevermind it is getting the r7, I forgot to run --sync again cause I deleted the 2.6.25*.ebuild's to see if that did anything. I understand now, thanks for the help.
