Hi there,
I've got a couple of problems with my printer:
Owning a HP Laserjet 2100 and a HP OfficeJet R45, connected via parallel-ports - both do not have USB-ports (the 2100 on the onboard-slot, the R45 on a PCI-parallel-card) I'm not able to set up the printers. I have tried it with hp-setup, the cups browser interface and the KDEprint-tool and all different ppds-files provided.
Every time it's the same: every print job is jamming the queue being not completely printed and staying in the queue until deleted by hand.
I've re-emerged hplips and cups several times with different USE-flags with no success.
Below the outputs of emerge -pv cups hplip, hp-check and tail -f /var/log/messages.
I don't understand what's wrong because it used to work until I found out that the scanner on the R45 wasn't working anymore and tried to get it working again using hp-setup. After that nothing was like it used to be...
Greetings from ginger-bread-city,
Andy

1. Compile-time check mode (-c or --compile): Use this mode before compiling the HPLIP supplied tarball (.tar.gz or .run) to determine if the proper dependencies are installed to
successfully compile HPLIP.
2. Run-time check mode (-r or --run): Use this mode to determine if a distro supplied package (.deb, .rpm, etc) or an already built HPLIP supplied tarball has the proper
dependencies installed to successfully run.
3. Both compile- and run-time check mode (-b or --both) (Default): This mode will check both of the above cases (both compile- and run-time dependencies).

I was wondering if it is "just" a problem with my udev-configuration? Maybe because of a conflict between the onboard-parallel-slot and the PCI-parallel-card? Does anybody know how I can find out if this is the case?
