Solved
Seems that it was a ucode error, playing around with different firmware versions, version 228.57.2.21 did the trick eventually.

Hi there,

I'm not much of a forum poster, but this problems got me stumped.

Symptoms

After connecting successfully to an AP, approx 45 seconds later (Depending on amount of data), no data seems to flow.

If a ping is run as soon as the connection is set up the following output (and associated strange error) is put

Code:

dave@sophie:~$ ping google.com
PING google.com (209.85.171.99) 56(84) bytes of data.

------------ SNIP ---------------

And so on

Attempted Solutions

1. Different kernel version
This set-up originally worked on the current kernel im running (2.6.26-gentoo-r1), when this problem emerged I tried downloading and installing the compat-wireless package (see http://intellinuxwireless.org as the only other results for this error in the were down to defective drivers.

After this came to no avail, I tried upgrading to a 2.6.27 with the same results.

2. Network Manager
An obvious one, have tried a manual wpa_supplicant setup, 0.6 0.7 and an svn version of Network Manager. Same results in all circumstances.

3. Hardware issues
Nope, A live CD connected fine and connection was stable without issue for more than an hour (Much longer than on my gentoo installation can manage)

System Information

1. iwevent output - Seems to associate just fine and pulls and address as expected

3. Kernel .config - I May have an insane setting here though it worked previous, without any changes asides user-space updates

4. Dump while the problem in occurring
I'll add this as soon as wiresharks compiled

5. modinfo iwl4965

Conclusion

IM STUMPED!

Any help or pointers in the right direction would be greatly appreciated, any more information I can give etc. I've trolled the bugzilla and google and have ran out of ideas.

Other Things tried:

noacpi & irqpoll kernel options. no success
resetting bios to default values (No options to specify anything to do with IRQ's)

Edit:

Also attempting different WAP's, different encryption modes (and open) fails in the same manner.

Changing versions of firmware failed in the same manner.
