Hi, da ich irgendwo jetzt mal gelesen hab, dass man Windowskisten (bei mir das Windoof im VMWare) auch ohne samba über cups drucken lassen kann, wollte ich samba mal komplett entfernen. Für einen Samba-Server hab ich schlicht einfach keine Verwendung. Also dachte ich mir, schmeiß ich halt Samba komplett runter.
Allerdings steht jetzt in der Updateliste Samba immer noch drin. Eine kleine Nachforschung zeigt mir:

Eigentlich sollte das doch auch cifs tun können? Kriegt man smb4k irgendwie dazu überreden, ausschließlich per cifs auf Windowsfreigaben zuzugreifen? |

Samba enthält etliche client tools, von welchen smb4k wohl Gebrauch macht (smbclient, nmblookup und dergleichen)
Das hat nichts mit CIFS vs SMBFS zu tun an sich.
