(since it seems like a build-related issue, I put it here.)

since recently (a few days), openoffice has not run. As in, I start it (from either the menu or as oowriter, for example), some disk I/O happens, and then nothing.

From command line, immediately (or nearly so) returns - no messages.

I compile... not the -bin package. I recompiled it today (let it start when I left for school :P), no help.

I'm pretty sure I'm all consistent with libs and everything (I'll let all those things happen again tonight, but I'm getting no preserved-libs messages, etc.)...

what's up?

Apart from the nvidia stuff, your ldd output looks about the same as mine.

Does anything different happen if you run the soffice.bin executable directly, or does it still exit to the prompt without printing anything useful ?

same exact thing happens between oowriter and soffice.bin directly.

both.

when I set up a system, I always go through use.desc flag by flag to see if I want it or not... those are all features I want.

a lot there that looks like i want too - laptop will have to take the beating, as to your error, have you changed or updated Java at all, all the forum looking and googling all seem to point to Java as being an issue, that or there are some libs it needs that aren't there or are corrupted.

Sorry cant be of more use, im new to gentoo and not good with commands or read output of commands i don't understand :p

edit: also gtk has been cropping up and there are suggestions to remove that from oO3, also suggestions of trying to reset user profile

edit2: found what i hope could be a useful link for you http://katana.oooninja.com/w/openoffice.org/troubleshooting
