There's something I want to do, it must be possible but I can't figure out where to find how to do it. The main idea is: I want to play audio on one computer and for that audio to play on my local network on another computer.
- Machine 1 plays audio, preferably with Amarok which sends it to what it to what it thinks is an audio device.
- Something transfers the sound to machine 2.
- Machine 2 plays the sound from machine 1.
I want the FILE to be READ by an app on machine 1 but the sound to be played on machine 2. ALSA must be able to do that, but I have no idea of how to make it.
Thanks to anyone who can help. |

Probably media-libs/nas can help you. _________________ Hello 911? How are you? |

the enlightened sound daemon can do this. i believe it is called esound
can´t pulseaudio do this as well? I can only speak for esound, which works well (even playing video over ssh/X11 -- getting them to sync is the hard part). |

How about with a windows client?
I have one windows computer at home (because my girlfriend "needs" the incredimail mail client.......). I have a server with MPD and use Ario as a client from the windows machine. I'd like to also redirect sound generated by the windows (bleh...) computer to my server (which is connected to a sweet hi-fi set). This must be easy to switch to and back from - NAS page says something about a an X server for windows on the client computer and that's not an option really...
Any ideas/articles/links/names/guides/howtos/etc? ;] |
