hey so I've had an annoying bug on my gnome desktop ever since installing Gentoo. Every now and again, seemingly randomly, the screen just freezes for 10-15 seconds. It is just the screen that freezes, everything else keeps running and any buttons I push update and show once the video stops freezing.
I've tried to look through all the common logs to no avail, help? |

Do you notice a lot of harddrive seek or anything like that? Try running top and checking it while the freeze happens. It could be something with memory or CPU usage.

OK found out the offending program... Compiz-fusion
Why doesnt that project work on getting its core stable instead of just adding more and more addons? |

which version are you using? you may want to update to 0.7.8 form the desktop-effects overlay, as there have been many stability improvements between 0.6.0 and this version. |

0.6.1 ... I cannot install version 0.7.8 because it requires EAPI 2 compliant portage program, and I dont really feel very comfortable using an experimental portage...
EDIT.. noticed 0.7.6 is still EAPI 1 in the desktop-effects overlay... going to upgrade to that and give it a try |

Nope... still does random freezing of the screen with compiz-fusion 0.7.6
