If you're having problems installing Unreal Tournament, first things first. Make sure your disc in in good, clean condition and that it's properly mounted.
The easiest way to get UT installed is by typing (as root)
Code: | emerge unreal-tournament |
with the cdrom mounted. However, this may cause problems connecting to most game servers as the ebuild will automatically update the client to version 451, and this may conflict with UTPure.
I recommend getting an install script directly from Loki Games. However, you must ensure that you get the correct script per your version (Game of the Year script will not work on original version and vice-versa).
Here are the links to download the scripts:
Original Version: ftp://ftp.lokigames.com/pub/patches/ut/ut-install-436.run
Game of the Year: ftp://ftp.lokigames.com/pub/beta/ut/ut-install-436-GOTY.run
Once the script is downloaded, ensure the disc is properly mounted, and type
Code: | chmod a+x ut-install-* |
(replacing ut-install* with your file name). Then, as root, type
(again replacing ut-install* with your file name).
After following the on-screen instructions, you should have a working UT install!
However, you may still have problems connecting online due to UTPure. This can be fixed by downloading the Linux versions of UTPure and unzipping the necessary files in your home directory's .loki/ut/ system and cache directories. The files can be downloaded at http://www.unrealadmin.org/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=viewdownload&cid=24 .
Note that it will beneficial to completely delete the contents of your cache folder before you copy the UTPure files in.
Now, you should have a Unreal Tournament version 436 install that will allow you to play online!
