[sun ultra 5]pxe boot possible ? |
|
|
Hello all.
I've just bought a sun ultra 5 for fun (It was quite cheap :p). The only problem is I don't have any keyboard for this machine or a serial cable right now.
I found a way to use a livecd and automatically start the network interface, sshd and add a root password. For this, the machine has to be enabled to boot with pxe and I don't know if it actually can boot with pxe.
Could anyone tell me if it is possible ? _________________ "Unix IS user friendly... It's just selective about who its friends are." Tollef Fog Heen tollef@add.no |

Hi,
This howto describes how to netboot a sparc(it's not 100% pxe, but quite similar).
But to do that you still need to tell the obp(bios) to boot from the net. Unless the previos owner did that but the default setting would be to boot from harddisk.
But I'd advise you to get a null modem serial cable(if you want to run it as a headless system). It makes using your sparc _alot_ easier
See this FAQ for more information about using your sparc over a serial console. _________________ Black Holes are created when God divides by zero! |
